VD955 – Dual Output Adjustable Vehicle Detector

The VD955 detector is a new compact vehicle detector that is able to operate on any voltage from 8 to 35 VDC. This low voltage range makes this detector ideal for solar powered applications. It is intended to be used as a full-featured single channel detector that can work with both inductive loops as well as newer mini-loops. The small device is powered by a high performance 8-bit microcontroller that will not lack on performance. It has a small footprint and will retrofit into many existing locations that may require a detector upgrade, allowing this device to meet all of your vehicle detector needs.

It can be connected to a standard inductive loop or one of our new mini-loops. The Diablo Controls mini-Loop is a small “pipe shaped” device approximately 4-1/2” by 1” and is designed to be buried in the ground to detect vehicles.

The VD955 can be used as either a safety loop or free exit loop detector. With the flexibility to be either “fail safe” or “fail secure,” it is the most “user friendly” detector on the market today. However, it should not be used as a safety loop if being used with a mini-loop.

This vehicle detector features three solid-state FET outputs, called A, B and -B outputs. The two "B" outputs are normal and inverted. With the combinations of outputs this device is capable of, it can easily be interfaced to a wide variety of various control boards.

- Sensitivity -
This detector has 10 selectable sensitivity settings and uses a 10-position DIP switch to configure the detector. This includes delay or extension timing functions and pulse on entry or pulse on exit features. This makes the DSP-55 very flexible and versatile for those installations that need more than just a standard detector.

- Switches -
The detector has a 10 position Dip switch to incorporate the following detector functions.
DIPSWITCHES 9 and 10 
Frequency - One of four operating frequencies can be selected by changing these two switches.
DIPSWITCH 8 
OFF = Normal Inductive Loop Operation.   ON = Mini-Loop Operation.
*NOTE: When used with MiniLoop/Probe output is “PULSE ONLY”
DIPSWITCH 7 
OFF = Normal Detection Hold Time.  ON = Extended Detection Hold Time.
DIPSWITCH 6 and 5
(Effects output “B” only)
6 = OFF and 5 = OFF  B outputs are normal presence outputs.
6 = OFF and 5 = ON  B outputs “Entry“ pulse.
6 = ON and 5 = OFF  B outputs “Exit” pulse.
6 = ON and 5 = ON  B outputs “Fail” condition.
DIPSWITCH 4 
OFF = Normal Sensitivity. ON = Sensitivity “Boost”.
DIPSWITCH 3 
OFF = Fail Safe Operation. ON = Fail Secure Operation.
DIPSWITCH 2 and 1 
2 = OFF and 1 = OFF  A Output Normal Presence.
2 = OFF and 1 = ON   A Output = 2 Seconds Delay.
2 = ON and 1 = OFF  A Output = 2 Seconds Extension.
2= ON and 1 = ON  A Output = 5 Seconds Extension.

- Indicators and Specs -
Green LED: The LED will be on steady to indicate the detector is powered and operating normally. If LED is not solid, it is indicating a current or prior fault.
Red LED’s: OFF = No Detect.  ON = Detect.  Slow Blink = Timing Delay.  Fast Flink = Tming Extension.
Loop Inductance: 20µH to 1500µH (including lead-in)
Outputs: Three separate solid state (normally open collector) outputs: 250 Milliamps @ 30 Volts.
Operating Temperature: -35°F to 165°F  (-37°C to 74°C)
Power: 8 to 35 Volts D.C.
Enclosure: Impact resistant, high temperature plastic.
